Yesterday, Major League Baseball released the 2027 regular season schedule for all thirty teams. The season is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 24, with the Mariners kickstarting their 51st season the following day on Thursday, March 25, at home against the Boston Red Sox. This will be the 33rd time in franchise history that Opening Day will be played in Seattle and by excluding 2012 and 2019, when the Mariners opened the season against the Athletics in Tokyo both times, that means 67.3% of the remaining forty-nine seasons have begun in Seattle!
A quick note on that subject is that mid-way through the 2026 season, the Mariners 50th, they are a combined 2428-2617 (.481) in seasons which begin at home, compared to 1309-1454 (.474) in seasons which have started on the road!
