Arozarena notches base hit in 4-0 shutout AL win at the 2026 All-Star Game

Serving as the Seattle Mariners sole representative in the 2026 Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia, outfielder Randy Arozarena captured his second career ASG base hit with a ninth inning single up the middle off of Phillies closer Jhoan Duran.

Arozarena, 31, was selected as a reserve to his third career All-Star Game and second straight as a Mariner after posting a first half worthy of the honor. He has appeared in 89 of the M's 97 games while slashing .286/.380/.458/.838 with 11 home runs and 45 RBI. In addition, Arozarena has swiped 19 bags and seems poised for his sixth straight 20-20 season.

As for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, Cody Bellinger (NYY) opened the scoring with a two-run single with two outs in the top of the first, quickly followed by fellow Yankee Ben Rice's RBI single which drove in Bobby Witt Jr. (KCR) to give the AL a 3-0 Lead.

The game was then scoreless until White Sox 3B Miguel Vargas launched a fly ball 433 ft off of Dodgers pitcher Justin Wrobleski into the Philly night, giving the AL their final run in a 4-0 shutout victory. AL pitching racked up 15 punchouts to the NL's 12 while also limiting the NL to just three hits, all singles from Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC), Otto Lopez (MIA), and Juan Soto (NYM).

Cody Bellinger took home the ASG Ted Williams MVP Award.

With tonight's victory, the American League has been victorious in 23 of the last 31 games, stretching back to 1995 and including the 2002 event which ended in a 7-7 tie, good for a .767 winning percentage.

Randy Arozarena will rejoin the Mariners as they kick off the second half of the 2026 campaign on Friday night (7/17, 7:10PM PDT) with a six-game homestand against the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds, which will be two-time former Mariner Eugenio Suarez's first game at T-Mobile Park since Game 5 of the 2025 ALCS.

Will the Mariners lack of participation which resulted in the roster getting a much needed breather give them an equally needed boost in the playoff race?
